Wisdom Teachings

Thoughts from Lightningbolt:  “Respect your own thinking.  Be aware of manipulations which comes to us through beliefs, attitudes, thoughts, feelings, and what we are told to believe…..  Know your own thoughts. What are your true choices? Who are you? Give yourself time to know you…be courageous.  Estcheemah

Sustainablity is the topic of discuission with a recent wisdom teacher. We hear alot about sustainability in regards to “the green movement” but more for thoughts is sustainabilty in our personal inner spheres. Questions I am pondering: how to have sustainable relationships, work, walk, and service. What sustains you, that allows you to “continue forward”? What are you extending that feeds/nourishes your surroundings? What would make our world, culture, government and health sustainable?

  6. I’m still learning from you, but I’m making my way to the top as well. I certainly love reading all that is posted on your site.Keep the posts coming. I liked it!

I would like to take a moment and have you consider the concepts of the seen, the know, the formed, the understood and move towards the the unseen, the mystery, the unknown and the unformed. What is the difference? What is the feeling? What are your thoughts?

I so encourage you to “step outside the box” and return to the imagination and wonderment that continues to live inside you. Allow yourself to once again dream.

Many happy moments I wish for you!

    Ultimately, you are the one.

We spend a lot of our lives looking for role models, mentors, teachers, and gurus to guide us on our path. There is nothing wrong with this and, in fact, finding the right person at the right time can really help. However, it is important to realize that in the absence of such a figure, we can very safely rely upon ourselves. We carry within us everything we need to know to make progress on our paths to self-realization. The outer world serves as a mirror. Or to use another metaphor, our inner world has a magnetic force that draws to us what we need to evolve to the next level. All we need to do to see that we already have everything we need is to let go of our belief that we need to seek in order to find.

The path of the spirit is often defined as a journey with a goal such as the fabled pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. In this metaphor, a person begins a search for something they want but do not have and then they find it, and there is a happy ending. However, most of us know that getting what we want only makes us happy for a moment, and then the happiness passes until a new object of desire presents itself. Joy is a permanent aspect of our inner selves and is not separate from us at any point. We do not have to travel to find it or imagine that it resides only in the body of another. In fact, what the best teachers will do is point out that this very precious elixir is something we already possess.

So when we find ourselves on our path, not knowing which way to turn and wishing for guidance, we can turn to ourselves. We may not know the right answer rationally or intellectually, but if we simply ask, let go, and wait patiently, an answer will come. The more we practice this and trust this process, the less we will look outside ourselves for teachers and guides for we will have successfully become our own.

Beautiful teachings last night from Grandmother Maria Alice on the “planetary element” – FIRE. What is our fire like, our light, our world intent, our vigor and how do we create balance within ourselves which in effect creates balance in the world.

This reminds me of a story of the shaman who was requested to heal a village which has become out of balance. Shortly after she arrived, she vanished to her teepee for many days, the people of the village became concerned. The shaman returned to the village center and reported that when she arrived, she felt unbalanced and before she could be of assistance to the village, she first had to relign herself.

How is your balance? What is our fire consuming? What is the fire of our health, hearts, will? Where is our humility? How can we feed the fire to the positive side and transformation?

Lessons for me included the need for daily purification and respecting others limits. What are yours?
